Since I've been back....

Since I've been back on the the bike I found two things to help me out.  One, I bought a set of slicks for the mountain bike so I can get some road miles in.  Still nothing like a road bike but atleast I dont ruin an expensive set of off road tires.  The second thing I've done is find a group of guys to ride with.  Now, this has helped and hurt.  I enjoyed riding with others so much my solo training time all but dissappeared, which means less riding during the week. 

I finally got over that nonsense and restarted my solo training rides.  Mapped out an 11 mile loop around the neighborhood that has little to no traffic and will be hitting it as much as I can in the near future.  

Since I am on call I have a hard time sneaking away to do longer rides.  To date, my longest ride on the moutain bike has been 35 miles with lots of climbing involved.  

I also have another wheelset being built right now so I will have one set with knobbies and one set with slicks.  Now, I will no longer have an excuse not to get a ride in because I am to lazy to change tires.  

Over the next two weeks I am going to continue knocking out the 11 mile loop around the house.  Week three I will up it to two laps for a good 22 miles training loop.

Fitness is progressing nicely.  I can actually feel a difference when riding and looking forward to improving more.
